Dennis F. Kerrigan Jr. named Zurich North America Commercial general counsel

Schaumburg, Ill., July 10, 2008 – Zurich, one of the world’s largest property-casualty insurance companies, today named Dennis F. Kerrigan Jr. as general counsel for its North America Commercial business division.

“Dennis is an accomplished litigation and dispute-resolution attorney with almost 20 years of trial experience in state and federal courts – including complex, high-profile cases,” said Mike Foley, CEO of Zurich North America Commercial. “He has represented financial services companies in a variety of proceedings, including: arbitration regulatory hearings; and court trials in matters involving market conduct litigation, class actions, complex claims litigation, reinsurance disputes and coverage litigation. Prior to his new position at Zurich, Kerrigan served at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, Hartford, Conn., where he was a member of the Global Litigation Department since 1998 and a partner since 2002.

Kerrigan has a law degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at The College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, Va., and a bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Mass. He was recognized by several business and legal publications in the area of insurance law. Kerrigan also served as editor-in-chief of the Tort & Insurance Law Journal, published by the American Bar Association.
